چکیده
Professor Hinton is a psychiatrist who has made careful studies of the reactions of dying people, the awareness they have that they are dying, and the ways in which their doctors and nurses may help to bring them solace. His original work is deservedly much esteemed. It has lost nothing by presentation in this volume together with additional information on the circumstances, customs and attitudes which surround death. The practices of many cultures are considered and it is hard to think of any aspect of the subject which does not receive sympathetic attention informed by scientific insight. Problems like voluntary euthanasia and the information which should be given to patients are discussed particularly well. It is clear that much is done by doctors to fulfil their traditional role
